You have the ability to offer your subscribers a benefit that will be issued to them on/around their birthday.
Define The Birthday Benefit Timing
First confirm the timeline on which you would like your birthday benefit to be issued. This can be set under Settings > Business > Store Settings tab. The "Birthday Benefit Setting" field has several options for benefit issuance timing. The options are:
- Apply on Birthday
- Apply 1 Week Before Birthday
- Apply 1 Month Before Birthday
- Apply First Day of Birthday Month
Note that this is a universal setting in your Submatic account. If you have multiple templates with birthday benefits the timing logic that you define here will apply to all of the birthday benefits.
Create A Birthday Benefit
You may define an eligible Product or Discount line item as a birthday benefit. For a Product line item the only type that is eligible is "Redeemable - Issue Coupon". For a Discount Line Item any limited quantity discount is eligible. If the line item is eligible you will see a blue "Options" link on the right hand side of the line item (below the Remove button).
Click on the Options button and you will see several checkboxes appear below. Check the "Birthday Benefit" checkbox. The line item price will automatically update to be $0. Note that birthday benefits must be listed as $0 items on your template.
Optionally set an expiration for the benefit. Note that the expiration applies from the date of issuance. If you choose to issue birthday benefits 1 month before a customer's birthday then you should ensure that the expiration is set to be at least 1 month after issuance (otherwise the benefit would expire before the customer birthday).
Asking the Customer for their Birthday
If you have a birthday benefit listed on your template then customers will be required to provide their birthday when enrolling online. Note that if you enroll members via another means (via Submatic directly or through an integrated POS) that you will have to add the customer birthday to their profile manually.
Notifications
Customers will receive an automated email at the time that their birthday benefit is issued to let them know that it is available. Here is an example of a birthday benefit notification email:
